The village of Wrightwood is split between two counties, San Bernardino County to the East and Los Angeles County to the West. Cross over the county line, going west, and you'll venture into Wrightwood's backyard, the Angeles National Forest.

To help you better utilize this marvelous playground, is the Big Pines Information Center. Housed in the Big Pines Lodge, which was originally built by Los Angeles County in the 1930s, the information center is manned by Forest Service personnel or volunteers of the San Gabriel Mountain Interpretive Association.

Not only does this portion of the forest contain three ski resorts; Mountain High East, Mountain High West and Ski Sunrise, it offers numerous hiking trails, camp grounds, private camps and seasonal activities and programs sponsored by the Interpretive Association. Free literature, beautiful posters, and trail hiles are offered at the Information Center, along with the nature books that are on sale.

For more information on the Big Pines Information Center, their phone number is: (760) 249-3504
